Folkestone Museum is a newly housed HLF funded museum. It interprets the story of Folkestone and traces its history throughout the ages.  Activation were chosen to manufacture and install the mounts for the diverse collection of socially important artefacts and archaeological specimens . Our remit  covered everything from bespoke mannequins, brackets for a large open display stone plaque and a widescale wall of fossils.

The new 7.7million museum is a discovery centre for the history and the origins of coins and their manufacture. Activation Ltd manufactured every bespoke coin and medal mount and installed numerous precious and unique objects within a demanding timescale. The finished displays have been extremely well received by all.

As the most excavated monastic site in Europe, Norton Priory and Gardens was a privilege for Activation’s team to be involved with. Supports were created for a diverse range of archaeological objects throughout the exhibition spaces under challenging circumstances.  In its first month the newly built award winning museum doubled it’s visitor numbers who enjoyed its 900 years of history.

Our collaboration with the National Football Museum in Manchester started when Activation were asked to install the object displays for its new exhibitions. It has over 2,500 display exhibits of football ephemera which includes a replica of the Jules Rimet World Cup trophy presented to the England team in 1966.  Since its grand opening, we are regularly asked back to provide bespoke object supports and install displays for the museum’s changing display spaces.

Wilberforce House is the birthplace of  the MP William Wilberforce (1759–1833) and, as a museum, showcases the life and work of one of Hull's most famous sons. Working closely with the project team, Activation assisted with the design of the case layouts and installed the object collection. Special consideration was needed due to the sensitive nature of the collections. We ensured that the showcase displays were completed in time for the 200th anniversary of Wilberforce's Act of Parliament abolishing the slave trade.

English Heritage approached us to help engineer discrete solutions to secure a large number of replica items produced for their new immersive Medieval Experience, housed within the Great Tower at Dover Castle.  Items such as replica swords and helmets in the armoury, food products such as bread rolls, meat and fruit in the kitchen and a board game in the King’s Bedroom. All provided individual challenges. Due to its continued success we now visit the impressive castle annually to install items.

Due to our all-encompassing design background, clients have requested our involvement with everything from low tech interactive galleries to full gallery design. We’ve also produced a number of key graphic design packages for varied clients, ranging from corporate brochures for agencies, to local newspapers and large format graphics for museums and exhibitions. We find clients appreciate our pressure relieving “turn-key” approach and we’ve  loved working on a variety of specialist projects.
